Studying databases contributes to the development of analytical, algorithmic, and critical thinking, as well as the ability to model information processes, build logical schemas, analyze large datasets, and apply them to solve practical problems. Mastering these competencies prepares future teachers to work in a STEM- and data-driven educational environment, where learning is based on real data and digital technologies. Moreover, developing information-digital competence through the DBMS course enables future teachers to create their own educational resources (educational databases, electronic journals, information systems for school analytics), thereby fostering an innovative educational environment. The course "Fundamentals of Database Management Systems" has great potential for developing this competence. Students learn to create database structures and establish relationships between tables, work with queries, forms, and reports, use SQL for data analysis, and utilize cloud-based and web-oriented database management systems (e.g., Google Cloud SQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite). Additionally, they develop educational mini-projects related to information management in educational systems. The formation of information-digital competence in future computer science teachers occurs through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical activities in a digital environment. Practice-oriented learning plays an important role, involving students in real-world tasks of designing, processing, storing, and analyzing data using modern database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite). The use of cloud platforms, such as Google Cloud or Azure Data Studio, provides experience with distributed systems and contemporary digital tools. Project-based activities are another key component, allowing students to develop their own educational databases or information systems. This fosters collaboration skills, information resource management, and the integration of digital technologies into the educational process. Particular attention is also paid to developing critical thinking and information culture, especially in evaluating the reliability, quality, and ethical use of data.
