FORMATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS' NETIQUETTE SKILLS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DIGITALIZATION OF PRIMARY EDUCATION

Abstract

Due to the fact that primary education is at the stage of digitalization, communication between participants in the educational process takes place both offline and online. In view of this, as well as the reflection of this problem in the content of the State Standard of Primary Education and the Conceptual Framework for Reforming Secondary Education ‘New Ukrainian School’, there is a need to develop the skills of ethical interaction on the Internet in primary school students. The article analyses the approaches to the interpretation of the concept of ‘netiquette’ and clarifies the essence of junior schoolchildren's netiquette skills as one of the information and digital skills, as the ability of a person to behave ethically on the Global Network on public web resources and in private online communication. The system of rules for interpersonal interaction of primary education students on the Internet is defined as: to perceive another user of the Global Network as a real person who experiences a range of emotions and feelings that depend on the online situation; to behave in the virtual world as in real life; to respect the time, privacy and copyright of each Internet user; not to react when someone starts an online conflict, and when it has started - not to continue it; to adhere to the language norms of communication (use courtesy clichés; write competently, clearly and concisely; do not mix uppercase and lowercase letters in words; do not write in capslock; use an appropriate number of emojis; do not spam voice, text and video messages); etc. The ways of forming netiquette skills in primary school students in the context of digitalization of primary education are investigated, in particular: writing an essay ‘Why is it important to behave ethically on the Internet?’, filling out a courtesy letter on the World Wide Web, holding a thematic morning meeting, communicating in the format of a conversation with elements of a story about the rules of ethical behavior on the Global Network, using interactive methods and the case method, analyzing photos and drawings that reflect violations or compliance with these rules, organizing work on thematic posters, participating in the online game ‘Interland: Children's Safety on the Internet’ (part of the ‘Kingdom of Kindness’).
