ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCE IN THE EDUCATION OF DENTISTS: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

The article discusses the implementation of a competence-based approach in education, in particular in medical and dental curricula, with a focus on entrepreneurial competence. Since the early 2000s, in particular after Ukraine joined the Bologna Process, the education system has undergone significant changes, focusing on the development of practical skills and competences necessary for a successful career in various fields. In medical education, particularly in dentistry, not only technical knowledge but also entrepreneurial skills, such as financial management, marketing and dental practice management, play an important role.
In particular, in Ukraine, with the development of the New Ukrainian School and new educational standards, entrepreneurial competence is gradually being integrated into the curricula of medical institutions. However, research shows that most teachers and practicing dentists in Ukraine do not sufficiently explore the entrepreneurial component in their teaching, in particular in terms of economic analysis of treatment, use of medicines and technologies.
The article also emphasises the importance of developing soft skills, which, along with entrepreneurial competence, help dentists to interact effectively with patients and colleagues. In the international context, there is a growing focus on such skills in educational programmes, which meets the requirements of modern dental business. Studies point to the need to integrate soft skills and entrepreneurial skills into the educational process to improve the quality of medical services and professional development.
The conclusions emphasise the need for further development of pedagogy in the field of dentistry and entrepreneurial competence, as well as the study of methods for assessing the effectiveness of this training. Prospects for further research are the improvement of educational programmes and the creation of interdisciplinary approaches to train highly qualified dentists who are able to successfully integrate entrepreneurial strategies into their practice.
