THE FORMATION OF PUBLIC SPEECH OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ON A TEXT BASIS

Abstract

The article deals with the issue of the formation of public speech of senior high school students on a text basis. The concept of public speaking in scientific and pedagogical research is analyzed. It is shown that the effective formation of the public speaking of students of grades 10-11 assists the use of text material of literary works. The structure of formation of the public speaking of senior high school students is worked out on a text basis. Different exercises based on literary texts that are studied in the lessons of Ukrainian literature in grades 10-11 are considered. It is noted that the formation of public speaking of senior high school students on a text basis will be effective on the assumption that the activity approach is used. The importance of the development of the ability to generalize and systematize thoughts during dialogues and polylogues in the formation of public speech of senior high school students is outlined. It is shown that the method of heuristic conversation helps to check the theoretical knowledge of students about the types of monologue speech (speech, lecture, lecture, and report), a dialogue, polylogue, and their structure. Creative tasks aimed at the development of abilities of public communication, intellectual speech, and creative capabilities of students are offered. It is shown that the public speaking of students of higher forms is achieved through using studies of the production of dialogue or polylogue (replica, dialogical units, and improvised dialogical texts). Positive in forming the public speaking of senior students are working in pairs and working in groups. Group work with the elements of research activity helps by forming senior high school students’ abilities to work in a team, to formulate tasks correctly, to solve particular speech situations, and to glean different syntactic / stylistic constructions. Attention was paid that the accomplishment of creative tasks should be combined with the discussion of problematic issues. The expediency of using an educational discussion as an effective means of forming senior high school students’ public speaking on a text basis is proven. It is shown that holding a press conference is important in the formation of high school students’ public speech on a text basis.
