The beginning of the XXI century. posed new challenges to university teachers and students. With the emergence of the covid-19 pandemic and the difficult political situation, there was a need to introduce online learning and find new approaches to learning and teaching. Student youth received a larger volume of independent tasks, and in order to optimize the educational process, the teacher faced the problem of reviewing the used educational sources.
A theoretical analysis of the scientific sources of domestic and foreign authors was used to summarize the information obtained in order to identify and justify the possibilities of using them in the learning process.
The described problems of the structure and form of presentation of the material by different authors differ significantly, which is why the question of examining previous scientific sources arose, and although such sources are considered outdated, their analysis gives a complete picture of the methods of teaching the history of mathematics, because the teachers relied on the textbook/scientific textbook that was relevant at the time manual; in order to obtain a complete picture of the peculiarities of teaching the history of mathematics, foreign experience was studied, thus expanding the vision of possibilities in teaching the history of mathematics and researching its evolution. It was found that the history of mathematics cannot be studied separately from the history of other sciences, although many technical scientific literature considers the history of mathematics as an organic part of the history of science, studies it in the context of the dynamics of historical events. In the same way, it is impossible to write purely mathematical works without considering the creativity of great thinkers, naturalists, physicists who had great achievements in the field of mathematical sciences. It is shown that the organic combination of fragments of historical material with educational information will encourage students to be active, effectively learn the material, develop interest in studying mathematics and form a scientific outlook.
The systematization and review of domestic and foreign materials, as well as their evolution over time, gives a complete picture of the formation of the history of mathematics. The review shows that the current state of the content of teaching the history of mathematics needs improvement and has prospects for development.
