INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS AS A TOOL FOR MOTIVATION TO STUDY FOR HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS IN UKRAINE

The article examines the role of international scholarship programs as an effective tool for motivating higher education students to study. It is noted that the role of motivation in the educational process is crucial for students to achieve high results and form a sustainable interest in acquiring knowledge. Scholarship support is a powerful motivational tool, stimulating the desire for academic excellence and active participation in research activities. For a better understanding of the mechanism of influence of student scholarships on motivation to study, the article highlights the key factors that determine the effectiveness of this process.
It is emphasized that the system of scholarships is an important element of support for students in obtaining higher education. In Ukraine, it includes state (academic, social, nominal) and non-state scholarships provided by Ukrainian and foreign scientific institutions, foundations and charitable organizations. The incentive system, which provides for a differentiated approach to the amount of scholarships depending on studentsʼ academic performance, helps them take their studies more seriously, increase competition and the overall level of education at universities.
The article examines the practice of implementing non-governmental scholarships at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (Ivano-Frankivsk), in particular, cooperation with the Foundation of the Institute of East European Studies (Poland), the Lozynskyj Foundation (USA) and the “Believe in Yourself” Charitable Foundation (Ukraine). The author analyzes the results of these programs, which provide scholarships to students for high academic achievements, as well as rewarding the best masterʼs theses. The main requirements for scholarship candidates, application procedures, scholarship amounts and additional opportunities provided to scholarship holders are highlighted. A comparative analysis of non-governmental scholarships at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University is made. It is determined that such programs contribute to increasing studentsʼ interest in learning, developing their scientific potential and forming a positive image of the university.
