The article substantiates the pedagogical conditions for developing the professional competencies of future agronomists through virtual reality simulations and artificial intelligence technologies in higher education institutions. The relevance stems from the contradiction between the biologically and climatically determined nature of agronomic practice, which limits educational repetitions of professional action to one growing season per year, and the demands of digital agricultural production for a graduate capable of making decisions under uncertainty and risk. The concept of “professional competence of a future agronomist in an immersive-intelligent educational environment” is defined as the integral ability to transform digital data on an agrocenosis into a technological decision with predictable production, economic, and environmental consequences. An original didactic model of the immersive-intelligent loop IDAR (immersion – decision – analytics – reflection) is proposed, integrating VR simulation as a safe space for professional action with AI-based formative assessment. Five interrelated pedagogical conditions are substantiated: agrotechnological authenticity of scenarios verified by stakeholders; the design of tasks according to the principle of “error as a didactic resource”; the use of AI as an assistant to reasoning rather than a generator of ready-made solutions; mandatory field verification of virtual experience; and the formation of an ethical and critical stance towards algorithmic recommendations. The concept of the agronomic transfer coefficient is introduced, and an integral indicator of competence formation with weighting coefficients of criteria is proposed. Criteria, indicators, and levels of competence formation are determined, and implementation risks are characterized. The practical significance lies in the possibility of using the proposed conditions, model and diagnostic tools in the educational programs of future agronomists.
